Just like design and programming -- my time is not split evenly between web and application development. The change in pace is welcomed since applications do offer design and problem solving challenges unique to standard web development. Plus, wild haired ideas are often formulated through application programming.

I choose LINUX for my application development, on most occasions. Though with that said, I do not share any bias with server platforms, industry business or cheap alternatives. I find the tools used to be unique as the client and their wild haired plans.
